Second Place Winner in the HCC logo competition
Shorewood Kiwanis has sponsored the Harper Charity Cruise since 2012 right after St. Claire city council gave the green light for the car cruise. The Harper Charity Cruise stands out amongst the crowd as the only 100% charitable cruise in Michigan. Long-time cruise goers say they enjoy the HCC because the five lane road presents an intimate setting that allows everyone to get a good look at the vintage vehicles. This enjoyment is demonstrated by the upwards of 40,000 people who return year after year for the community feeling and fun.
Planning Sketches
My goal for this project was to focus on making a clean and simplistic logo that captured the essence of car cruises and the fun had by all who participate in the festivities. I started by drawing illustrations of full cars then began playing with cropping and selecting shapes that resembled a car utilizing the negative space to compensate for the car details.
Color Theme
Classic red and black fulfilled the retro vibe I was aiming for in addition to being eye-catching with amazing contrast
